Bourne Bach

The Project

Bourne Bach – Urenui

The Challenge

The client was after a modern, high quality bach at a popular beachside location. Being built on a compact site meant that disruption to the surrounding neighbours needed to be kept to a minimum. Additionally, the building needed to meet height to boundary rules.

The Solution

The architect engaged had previously designed some Woodspan homes and was aware of the height savings evident with panelised floors and roofs. Woodspan also provided significant benefit with the speed of the construction program.

Tuesday 4th – Ground floor installed – Tuesday 11th (5 working days later) Roof Installed.

“This was the first time using the woodspan product, the build consists of woodspan ground floor, mid floor, mezzanine level and roof panels. We were stoked at how fast the construction process was in Urenui. We went from having the ground floor bearers complete to roof on in 6 working days, there was no mucking around laying joist, straightening, blocking and laying flooring. The panels were very dimensionally accurate with rebates for doors etc incorporated.” Gareth Collins Building Ltd.

Mary Potter
Apartments

Woodspan supplied PLT floor panels for the Mary Potter Apartment project in central Wellington, comprising of 41 apartments across 5 levels.

“If we have small units requiring mezzanines we would definitely have Woodspan involved. It takes out painting and fire considerations and is good from a building, value and engineering perspective. PLT ticks all the boxes.”
